WHEREVER ANUSHKA GOES ARYA FOLLOWS

There was a time when rumours about Anushka’s love affair were doing the rounds in the industry.

Anushka had declared that she was seeing somebody and that she would soon get married and leave the industry for good. However, she was careful about not disclosing the identity of the person she was seeing. But the affair did not last and Anushka continues to be a part of the industry.

Right now, Anushka is part of some big budget ventures (ie: Baahubali and Rudramadevi) and has entered the Rs 200 crore business league. The latest about her personal life is that she is seeing Tamil hero Arya. It is heard that Arya is following the Shetty girl wherever she goes. He is said to be looking after her when he gets a break from his shooting schedules.

TRISHA'S KANNADA DEBUT OPPOSITE PUNEET RAJKUMAR?

Southern actress Trisha Krishnan, who has predominantly worked in Telugu and Tamil films, is making her Kannada movie debut. She will be seen in yet-untitled Kannada remake of Telugu blockbuster "Dookudu".

"We have zeroed in on Trisha for the leading lady's role. I have seen her work and since she hasn't worked in Kannada film industry so far, I was even more interested to cast her. She instantly agreed to be a part of the film when I approached her," the film's director Madesh said.

Mahesh Babu-starrer "Dookudu" catapulted the image of Samantha Ruth Prabhu, and Madesh hopes that the same happens for Trisha with the remake. "I'm hoping that with this role, Trisha will find a strong foothold in Kannada industry as well. Our audiences are quite familiar with Trisha's work as most of her films from other languages have released here and have been appreciated," he said.

Trisha is paired with superstar Puneeth Rajkumar in the remake, which will also introduce composer S.S. Thaman, who composed the tunes for "Dookudu", to Kannada film industry.

Meanwhile, Trisha is awaiting the release of Tamil thriller Boologam and Telugu romantic drama "RUM".

WE'VE MADE OUR OWN CHOICES: SUSSANNE ON SPLIT WITH HRITHIK

Sussanne, Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan's wife of 13 years, Saturday said their separation is based on their "individual choices". But, they will continue to care for each other and for their two sons.

"We are two individuals who respect and care for each other and have made our own individual choices," Sussanne said in a statement Saturday. The duo was dating for four years before they tied the knot Dec 20, 2000 post the success of Hrithik's debut film "Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai". They have two sons - Hrehaan and Hridhaan.

"We are parents to two wonderful kids and our responsibility remains to protect and take care of them. Nothing can change that," said Sussanne, who is the daughter of veteran actor Sanjay Khan.{Read More}

Like Hrithik, Sussanne said she would "appreciate if we are given our privacy in such a time". "Thank you for your warmth and concern for both of us and the family," she said.

The news of their split has come just a few days before their 13th marriage anniversary, and in the midst of a medical treatment that Hrithik is undergoing at an undisclosed location abroad.

The "Krrish" star has been suffering bouts of headache. In July this year, he had undergone a brain surgery for removal of a clot at the Hinduja Hospital.

BHARANI CONFIDENT OF SUNIL'S WORK IN BHAKTHA KANNAPPA

Sunil Varma is known as one of the popular Telugu comedians, who is currently enjoying the status of a lead actor.

But actor-filmmaker Tanikella Bharani, who has roped him in his upcoming Telugu period-drama "Bhaktha Kannappa", feels he will do total justice to the title role. Sunil will essay the role of Kannappa, Lord Shiva's ardent disciple.

"Sunil is no more a comedian. I mean he can still make audiences laugh but he has evolved as an actor over the years. He has the potential that he can use to play any role with ease. I'm confident that he will do justice to the role of Kannappa in my film," Bharani said. Bharani, who has started working on the pre-production of the film, will revisit classics on the same story. "There have been a few films on Kannappa already. I will be revisiting them and see if I can learn from them. I also intend to read some literature on the character and see if it can help me with my development of the character," he said. "It will be an out-and-out period-drama set against the backdrop of 14th century. We plan to start shooting soon," added Bharani.

Sunil, meanwhile, is busy completing upcoming Telugu romantic-comedy "Bheemavaram Bullodu".

BAAHUBALI PROPS CREATED BY OVER 500 ARTISANS

Filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli will soon start shooting the battle scenes for upcoming Telugu-Tamil period-drama "Baahubali" and he has roped in over 500 artisans to prepare the props for the same.

"500 plus artisans are working round the clock to mass produce weapons, armour, props and more as we prepare for The Battle," the film's producer Shobu Yarlagadda, posted on his Twitter page.

Rajamouli is expected to shoot the battle scenes in about a week's time.

Starring Rana Daggubati, Prabhas Varma and Anushka Shetty, the film is titled "Mahabali" in Tamil. It is slated to release in 2015.

The film, which also features Ramya Krishnan, Sathyaraj, Nassar and Adivi Sesh, is touted to be the first Rs.100 crore budget project in Telugu.

The year enjoyed its big-ticket movies like "Chennai Express" and "Krrish 3" at the Bollywood box office, but it also welcomed small wonders.

High on content and performances, acclaimed films like "Ship Of Theseus" and "The Lunchbox" not only exhibited the zest and zeal of filmmakers, but also showed their fearlessness in trying new genres and unique treatments.

IANS picks up 10 such refreshing small wonders from 2013, which were not gold spinners, but whetted the appetite of viewers looking for meaningful content:

"ABCD: AnyBody Can Dance": The 3D dance film "ABCD" not only introduced the Indian audiences to a new genre but also gave budding choreographers a platform to display their skills. Directed by choreographer Remo D'Souza, it starred a host of choreographers including big names like Prabhudheva and Ganesh Acharya along with upcoming ones. Even though the film, made on an approximately Rs.12 crore budget, received a lukewarm response, it garnered Rs.19.5 crore ($3.127 million) in its opening weekend and wowed everyone with its dance sequences.

"Kai Po Che": Based on friendship, "Kai Po Che" won many hearts. The Abhishek Kapoor-directorial saw the big screen debut of TV actors Sushant Singh Rajput and Amit Sadh as best friends. Rajkumar Rao also featured as the third friend. Not only the film, a big screen adaptation of Chetan Bhagat's "The 3 Mistakes of My Life", was loved by many, it helped freshers in getting good projects. The film grossed approximately Rs.43.50 crore in the domestic market and its overseas collection was Rs.12 crore.

"Mere Dad Ki Maruti": A laugh riot, "Mere Dad Ki Maruti" was a light-hearted refreshing comedy revolving around the bantering between a father and his son. Although Saqib Saleem as the son and Ram Kapoor as the dad entertained the viewers, its box office business wasn't satisfactory. Those who saw the film however appreciated the dialogues.

"Aashiqui 2": Sequels are a gamble as they often fail to match up to the original, but "Aashiqui 2" turned out to be an exception. The love story, featuring Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor, was lapped up by the masses and collected approximately Rs.78 crore at the box office. Directed by Mohit Suri, the film's music was a big hit as well.

"Fukrey": Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani's small budget production "Fukrey" proved that hero-heroine-based love stories are not the only ones that click at the box office. Directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba, it did a business of over Rs.30 crore with names like Richa Chaddha, Vishakha Singh, Pulkit Samrat and Priya Anand carrying the film on their shoulders.

"Bhaag Milkha Bhaag": A biopic on legendary athlete Milkha Singh, sports-based "Bhaag Milkha Bhaag" hit the bull's eye at the box office. For the viewers it was a delight to watch well-trained Farhan Akhtar as the Flying Sikh on the big screen. Directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, it also had stellar performances by Sonam Kapoor and Divya Dutta. It reaped gold at the box office and crossed the Rs.100 crore mark.

"Madras Cafe": It was not a typical entertainer. Set against the backdrop of the Sri Lankan civil war, the film was a mix of fact and fiction. It's not easy to involve movie lovers in such a serious drama, but Shoojit Sircar nailed it with "Madras Cafe". The political thriller, starring John Abraham, was made on a budget of less than Rs.10 crore buted collect Rs.24 crore in the first four days of its release itself.

"Ship Of Theseus": Debutant director Anand Gandhi struck the right chord with his thought-provoking "Ship Of Theseus", made on a shoestring budget of Rs.2.5 crore. Filmmaker Kiran Rao released the poignant and original drama in collaboration with UTV Motion Pictures in select few cities, but the film that revolved around an experimental photographer, an ailing monk and a stock broker, enjoyed a satisfactory run in cities like Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Bangalore and Kolkata.

"Shahid": Based on the life of slain human rights activist and lawyer Shahid Azmi, Hansal Mehta-directed critically acclaimed "Shahid", starring Rajkumar Rao in the title role, received ample support from the film industry and also enjoyed a good run at the box office. It collected Rs.2.05 crore in its opening weekend.

"The Lunchbox": After being appreciated at various international film festivals, "The Lunchbox" proved its mettle on the domestic front too. An unconventional love story of a married woman, who is unsatisfied with her life, and an elderly man, who lost his wife many years back, collected approximately Rs.1.25 crore on its opening day. If viewers and critics raved about director Ritesh Batra's film with universal appeal, they were equally overwhelmed by Irrfan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Nimrat Kaur's performances in the medium budget movie.

TAMANNAAH JOINS TEAM BAAHUBALI

S S Rajamouli’s “Baahubali’ is surely going to be high on star power. After roping in Rana Daggubati, Prabhasand Anushka, Rajamouli has now got Tamanna to join the team.

Confirming the news on his official Facebook page, the director wrote, "Tamannaah joins Baahubali team.. She plays the role of "Avanthika"

The movie will see T wood heartthrob Prabhas play a double role that of Baahubali and Shivudu. Anushka will be paired opposite Baahubali while tam will be featured opposite Shivudu. Rana Daggubati will play the role of the main antagonist.

The film is titled "Mahabali" in Tamil. It is slated to release in 2015. The film, which also features Ramya Krishnan, Sathyaraj, Nassar and Adivi Sesh, is touted to be the first Rs.100 crore budget project in Telugu.

DHOOM 3 OPENING DAY COLLECTIONS

YRF’s Aamir Khan Katrina Kaif starrer “Dhoom 3″ which was released on Friday, Dec 20, 2013, is all set to destroy all box-office records till date.

The story of Dhoom 3(Aamir Khan) is based on how Saahir(Amir Khan) takes revenge on the Union Bank of Chicago which had bankrupted his dad(Jackie Shroff) who could not repay the loan which he had taken to run his Indian Circus.

Saahir plans to rob all the branches of the bank and successfully manages to rob some of them. Saahir leaves behind the mask of a joker and some lines written in Hindi at the crime scenes every time. To solve this mysterious case, Jai Dixit(Abhishek Bachchan) and Ali(Uday Chopra) are brought on board from India.

PRIYANKA CHOPRA GETS RS 6 CRORE FOR 7 MINUTES

According to a reports, Priyanka Chopra will be paid a steep price of Rs 6 crore for a seven minute dance performance at a New Year party in Chennai.

The actress-singer is making a list of songs for her live performance. Her performance will take place at the Park Hyatt hotel, and she says she wants to enter the New Year "in style".

The actor made her debut in the world of films with 'Chand sa Roshan Chehra', a Hindi film that sank without a trace. In spite of her failure in Bollywood, Tamannah debuted with a bang in Tollywood and Kollywood.

She is considered to be one of the most bankable heroines of south. And with a number of T wood releases this year, like Racha, Endukante Premanta, Rebel and Cameraman Ganga Tho Rambabu and Vettai Telugu remake with Naga Chaitanya, Tamannah is surely on her way to be Tollywood's next numero uno heroine.

Simran Back In Tollywood After Marriage

Remember Simran! The actress who sizzled onscreen with her performances in Tollywood. She retired temporarily from acting post marriage. After that she did try to make a comeback with couple of films here and there. 

Now Simran is trying another stint in acting. She will be playing a key role in Nani starrer Aaha Kalyanam. This film is a remake of Bollywood film Band Baja Baarat. Not much detail is available about Simran’s role.

Dil Raju’s daughter Hansitha got engaged. Top celebrities of Tollywood attended the engagement ceremony. The attendees included Ram Charan, Prabhas, Venkatesh, Pawan Kalyan, Allu Arjun, Samantha and many others. Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy and other bigwigs of political world too attended the betrothal ceremony.  Hansitha is a graduate from London School of Economics (LSE). She got engaged to Harshith Reddy, the son of Narsimha Reddy who owns a group of professional colleges.  The wedding will take place next year.

Karthi starrer Biriyani is all ready to be served! The actor hopes to taste success with this film. The actor who is loved by Tollywood now, says that his fans will get to see a much stylish and chic Karthi in Biriyani. From Weight loss to his love for food…in conversation with Karthi..

Tell us about Biriyani?

It is about two carefree guys, who have no aim in life. Drinks, fun and food is all that they do in life. I am one of these guys in the film. When I drink, Biriyani is must as an accompaniment. Like always one day the guys go for Biriyani, late in the night. An incident happens which changes their life forever…this is the crux.

Do you drink in life?

I am a teetotaler.

So Biriyani is a thriller?

I would call it a dark comedy film. Director Venkat Prabhu loves to make films laced with a good dose of comedy. The film kind of falls into the mould of his earlier film Saroja. You will see sophistication here. There is thrill, the entertainment quotient is high. Second half of the film is nail biting!

Hansika looks fabulous!

Yes! She has lost weight for this film. In Biriyani she enacts the role of a journalist. The film starts with our breakup story. Another surprise element is Ramky is returning after a long time. The popular actor of the 80's was famous for his film Sindhura Puvvu. We also have Mandy Takkar who is very popular in Punjabi films. She has done a very crucial role in the film . Her character is Maya. She is the seductress and is the mystery.

Tell us about the director?

He has crafted and packaged the movie well. I would say Biriyani is Venkat Prabhu's best movie till date. He was my senior in school. Premji was my junior. Yuvan was also my schoolmate. This good friendship amongst us has helped immensely during the shoot.

Sentiments in Biriyani?

There is high sentiment quotient in this film. Madhumati plays the role of my sister. The akka sentiment is high!

How did it feel singing in Telugu?

Yuvan has given his best. This happens to be his 100th album. The director wanted a natural song. So I was pitched in to sing. Initially I crooned with so many mistakes for the Tamil version. I was ready to rectify the mistakes. But Yuvan wanted it to remain that way. In Telugu I have corrected the mistakes that I did. The song has the 80s mood.

We have seen you in action films mostly?

I like fights. When I was kid, my only interest in films was to watch to fights. I used to ask my friends before going to watch a film how many fights does the film have. If a film had five fights, I used to rate it high.

I like doing action in my movies but I try to be natural and realistic. In Awaara and Naa Peru Siva, you can see that. 

Producer Studio Green Jnanavelu Raja…comment?

From childhood, we used to discuss films together. I always showed interest in creative side while he is keen about producing and marketing. But both of us are passionate about film making. So it is comfortable to work with him. He markets my brother and my films here in Andhra Pradesh.

Your last two films did not do well?

What they narrated to me was different from what they made. I realized this at the shooting. I asked the directors to change but they said they would work with the audiences. If the director is confident, I can't say no.

You lost weight?

Yes, I lost weight for this film. I wanted to look stylish urban boy for Biriyani.

Do you like Biriyani, the food!

Who wouldn't sir? I love to eat but I have to check on my weight now... in moderate proportions I relish this food.

Do you have reservations about doing intimate scenes?

Yes. I don't entertain lip to lip kiss scenes. My directors keep complaining about why I would have objections when the heroines are willing to kiss, but that is my policy. I draw lines for certain things.

What is your wife tells about films?

She likes my movies but I told her not to watch this film since I played playboy character. (laughs)

So that leads to problems at home?

(laughs)

Doing straight Telugu film?

Heard some scripts from new comers but I didn't like them. I am still hearing scripts from various directors. Let us see if something works out.

So you are extra cautious about your films now?

Since my films are releasing all over South India, I have to be extra cautious. I know some films only appeal to Tamilians, some work everywhere. That is why we didn't release my last Tamil movie, All In All Azhaghu Raja in Telugu.

Thamanna in Ramcharan upcoming movie

Ram Charan shares superb chemistry with Tamannah. Ram Charan and Tamannah proved that they are a hit pair in super hit, Rachcha last year.  They rocked in the super hit remix song - Vaana Vaana Velluvaye in the film. And now director Krishnavamsi has brought her in his next film. After trying several names and auditioning many newcomers, Krishnavamsi reportedly okayed Tamannah. 
Currently, the director and producer Bandla Ganesh are in Pollachi scouting for locations. The film will commence its regular shoot from Jan 23, 2014.

Tamanna in ss rajamouli Baahubali

Yes you read it right! Tamannah will be playing second female lead in Baahubali. The search for the second leading lady which has been going on for quite sometime has come to an end. In this film Prabhas plays a dual role. One of the dual roles will have Anushka as his leading lady. The other character will have Tammanah as a pair. 

The epic period drama has Prabhas acting as Baahubali and Shivudu. Anushka has been cast as Devasena and will be Baahubali's leading lady. Tamannah has been cast as Avanthika and has been cast opposite Shivudu.

Very soon Tamannah will be joining the unit. Presently the Baahubali team is rehearsing the war sequence which will be shot at Ramoji film City. The shoot of this war sequence will commence from 23rd December and will be wrapped up by 5th January 2014.
