Chiranjeevi Pawan kalyan movies shelved at a time

Very few people know that Chiranjeevi ‘Vinalani Vundi’ and Pawan Kalyan ‘Cheppalani Vundi’ were shelved almost same time. When Pawan Kalyan was working with Puri Jagannath directed ‘Badri’, Trivikram Srinivas had approached him and narrated a story in 1999. Pawan kalyan liked the concept, but said to make few changes to suit his image. Amisha Patel was to act in the romantic entertainer. During Badri shootings, they even released posters of Cheppalani Vundi.

Producer, Eenaadu gropu chairman Ramoji Rao who came to know about this love story, hurriedly paid advances to Trivikram and Vijaya Bhaskar and produced it as 'Nuvve Kavali' with Tarun and Richa in lead roles. We know how big hit the movie was. After Bhadri, Pawan Kalyan later acted in SJ Surya directed and AM Ratnam produced ‘Kushi’, which was a super hit.

Almost same thing happened to Mega Star Chiranjeevi. Ram Gopal Varma was making a film titled ‘Vinalani Vundi’ with Chiranjeevi in 1998, but the director dropped the project even after canning couple of songs and some talkie part, when he got a Bollywood offer with Sanjay Dutt. Ashwini Dutt was producer of Vinalani Vundi and Tabu, Urmila Matondkar were heroines. Later, Chiranjeevi worked in ‘Chudalani Vundi’ directed by Gunasekhar.
