Governor inaugurates Bike Station

Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan inaugurated the state-of-the-art Bike Station set up jointly by the GHMC, APIIC, HMR and Hyderabad Bicycling Club (HBC) at Gachibowli and flagged-off a bicycling rally on Sunday.In his address, Mr. Narasimhan described as encouraging the concept of ‘Cycle to Work’ as a laudable initiative and wanted Cyberabad to become Cycle City. “My dream is to see that this 60 km stretch will not have any pollution causing vehicles and for those who can’t ride bicycles, solar powered vehicles should be made available to commute here,” he said. GHMC Commissioner Krishna Babu requested IT companies here to encourage their employees to commute by bicycles by providing incentives to them. HBC’s Gachibowli Bike Station opposite Bio Diversity Complex has been built by the GHMC, while Hyderabad Metro Rail contributed 300 bicycles to be positioned here. The Bike Station is fully enclosed and has rest rooms for men and women and provision for snacks and beverages. Minister for Major Industries Geeta Reddy, Minister for Municipal Administration Maheedhar Reddy, Mayor Mohammed Majid Hussain, European Cycling Federation president Manfred Neun, HMR MD N.V.S. Reddy and HBC chairman D.V. Manohar were present.

DGP Dinesh Reddy retired from his ceremonial farewell parade

Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) V. Dinesh Reddy, against whom a CBI probe is pending on charges of acquiring disproportionate assets, retired from service on Monday Mr. Reddy, who was accorded a ceremonial farewell on superannuation, took the salute at the Parade Grounds at Central Police Lines in Amberpet, Hyderabad.A division bench of Justice Ashutosh Mohanta and Justice D Seshadri Naidu at the Andhra Pradesh High Court had on Sunday rejected Mr. Reddy’s house motion plea seeking extension of his term for one more year (till the end of September 2014), against the decision of Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) which had refused to grant him interim relief to continue as the Head of the State Police Force till the end of September 2014.It is learnt that ACB Director General B Prasada Rao is the front runner to replace Mr. Reddy as the new DGP.Earlier, addressing the police personnel, Mr. Reddy said the strength of police force has crossed the one lakh mark and reached 1,29,578. ’Dial 100’ - a centralised system on the lines of an emergency response agency like ‘911’ in the United States of America was launched as a part of several people friendly steps that also included sub-controls for assistance to public, he said.“The challenge of ongoing agitations (over bifurcation of state) is met with restrain but in a highly effective manner,” Mr. Reddy said, adding the state police also achieved great success on the anti-naxal front within and outside Andhra Pradesh.

Mahesh Babu got the shock of his life when he came to know that a thief has breached security at his house and entered his bedroom to rob the valuables.In the early hours of Wednesday (2.30 am), An unidentified person jumped the 10 feet compound wall of Mahesh’s house located at Jubilee Hills Road No.81. The thief who wore a monkey cap to avoid getting identified breached the tight security and entered the house by breaking the window glass. At the time when he was trying to collect the valuables in Mahesh’s bedroom, servants woke up only to realize something is wrong and checked the surrounding to find this stranger. Soon, security guards have been alerted but the thief managed to escape through the back door of the house.Mahesh Babu have given a written complaint to Jubilee Hills police through his security guards. West Zone DSP K Narayana reached the spot along with dog squad and finger prints experts to kick start the investigation. Cases have been booked under sections 457 and 511 of IPC.
