Midhunam Movie nominated for Oscar

Telugu movies are miles away from Oscar nominations, leave about getting awards at the international stage. Tollywood makes more than 100 movies ever year but none of them is not being qualified even for screening at the official selection committees. This year, Gujarathi film ‘The Good Road’ has been selected as an official nominee for the Oscar awards from India. Many critics strongly objected the selection of the movie but the reality is movies from other languages including Telugu and Tamil are not up to the mark. One has to accept the hard reality Our Tollywood makers never dare to do many off beat movies with human values. The reason is such movies may not fetch good returns and some times even investment. But should we sacrifice our pride for the sake of money. Recently Tanikella Bharani made a movie ‘Midhunam’ which is appreciated by critics. Eega has also got appreciation but not qualified for international screening Maa Bhoomi fame Gautam Ghosh says “ I love Telugu industry where my movie Maa Bhoomi in 1979 was received very well. But Telugu movies didn’t stand a chance when they compete with films from Mumbai, Tamil Nadu or even Kerala at the current scenario. The content, quality and presentation of Telugu films are dismal ”. However he did not loss his hope on Tollywood while saying that the industry would come up with good quality cinema.
